NW NSTRA Regional Elimination Trial
Four SRSGDA member dogs competed in the National Shoot to Retrieve
Northwest Regional Elimination Trial in Heppner OR over the Memorial
Day weekend. Dick Chapman and WACKO, Jack Flack and LIZZY, Paul
McCawley and BONNE, and Jerry Thiessen and TANNER.
This trial began with 64 excellent dogs from across our region –
all of which placed and earned points in sanctioned trials during the
2003-2004 NSTRA season. In large, beautifully covered fields and
in very windy conditions, TANNER was the #1 bird-finding dog and
high-point getter after Saturday’s double-double trial.
Numerous dogs went birdless and many others found only 1 or 2
birds. The top 12 dogs from each field advanced to the next round
on Sunday morning. Included in that group, along with Tanner,
were Wacko and Lizzy.
Sunday morning started out sunny and fairly calm, but turned windy
again – and again, Tanner was exceptionally fast, tremendously
stylish, and absolutely wonderful on point as he found bird after bird
after bird after bird! Tanner advanced to the
“semi-final” round of braces – the six dogs with the
highest scores from the morning session.
Congratulations to all our competitors!
Poker Shoot
Lewiston Gun Club
A big thank-you to “COACH” Jay Roach for his excellent
hosting of our annual poker shoot. A huge turnout by SRSGDA club
members and family made for a great afternoon. The visual of 25+
people lined up for the ANNIE OAKLEY shoot was quite a sight –
and in the end, the dual between BAD Boy Bart Dearborn and
Out-of-shells- Pam Spickler was a lot of laughs!
