for 2004-2005.
**your newsletter editor made a mistake last time
regarding the “Congrats to Fred Spencer and Frank Wargo
NAVHDA Natural Abilities test scores.” The winning scores
were actually earned in the VDD (drathaar specialty) natural abilities
test. My apologies!

Fabulous Fun Trial and Training Day - September 3, 2005
Snow Farms – 7.am. – first brace!
The
location is the farm (and home) of Jack and Susie Flack, 2732 Snow Road
off Hwy 95 south of Moscow, with “local” quail raised in
the Palouse the target(s) of choice.
Directions
to Flack's Field: Heading south out of Moscow, ID go 2.5 miles
past Columbia Tractor (the John Deere dealership) on highway 95. Turn
right (west) on Snow Road. Go 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile on Snow Road.
The entrance for the trial will be on the north side of the road in the
stubble field.Just for a change of pace, this fall’s fun trial will feature a single entry fee, multiple 15-minute braces, and the
inaugural awarding of an annual trophy.
We will also accommodate SRSGDA traditional-style paired team braces
and training braces in the fields at the regular $15.00
per brace fee. Placement ribbons will be awarded in all events (double elimination and traditional pairs).
Modeled
after the highly successful Spokane Bird Dog Association’s Double
Elimination Tournament held earlier this spring, brace mates
participate in 15 minute braces with the “winner” of each
brace advancing to the “A” bracket – and the
“non-winner” advancing to the “B”
bracket. A winner is determined and the brace is over as soon as
the first handler/dog combination secures two birds
to hand,
even if less than fifteen minutes has elapsed. Handlers/dogs
progress through the brackets until an overall winner is
determined. Everyone is guaranteed two braces for the single
entry fee of $25.00. Depending on the total number of entries,
individual dogs may run as many as 6, 7, 8 or more braces as they
advance through brackets. There is no judging, no restriction on
numbers of shells used, and any pointing, flushing, retrieving dog is
eligible – actually any dog may participate!
The event
can accommodate the first 16, 24 or 32 pre-registered dogs – so
get your entries in NOW for this fast, frenetic, free-shooting
folly!
To enter, you may email Nance Ceccarelli (
njc@moscow.com, or
nancec@uidaho.edu)
or, call 208-883-0752 (home + voice mail) no later than August 15, 2005
to guarantee your slot. Entries received the morning of the fun
trial will automatically go into the team brace format.
Individuals may be
accommodated in the double-elimination that morning in the case of
no-shows. As always, our focus is FUN and SAFETY.
Volunteers
just like YOU are needed to ensure our club’s success! We are
seeking volunteers to help set up and tear down. We need
assistance planting birds, marshalling, tracking braces, and many other
fun-filled duties. For specific job descriptions and to request your
own special assignment as a trial volunteer, please contact Kay or Ed
Westbrook a call (208-498-4450). (Volunteers receive a complimentary
lunch!)
Lunch is a potluck – always delicious!
Please bring a main dish, dessert, salad or side dish to
share. The club provides paper products, utensils and
beverages.
So, you missed the last fun trial????? See what you missed!!!
