July PicnicThe summer picnic was held Saturday, July 21 at Swallow’s Nest across from Hell’s Gate State Park. Attendance was low due to the untimely delivery of the newsletter (ahem). Enough were present for a meeting, however, and a few items were discussed: · August 2001Treasure's Report: The Club's August Bank Statement showed a July closing balance of $5,157. An outstanding debt of $63.77 has been incurred for the July Club picnic. · Club Inventory: Five bird bags, Two electric remote bird release traps, Two rubber band remote bird release traps, Thirty-two field marking flags, Two highway signs, Eight forty gal water tubs, Five video tape (in poor condition), Five bird boxes, Ten radios of two different types and one large tent. · The emailing of the newsletter isn’t working as well as one would hope. Newsletters will still be posted on the web site, and announcements of new issues mailed, but paper copies will be sent to all members. · There is an interest in sending out participating in both National Shoot-to-Retrieve Association (NSTRA) and North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) simultaneously. This is the official club vote on organizations (i.e. for now, we are only considering NSTRA and NAHVDA), and at this point ballots will be sent to the membership by mail with the following options: § Participate in NAVHDA only § Participate in NSTRA only (i.e. stay the way we are now) § Participate in both NAVHDA and NSTRA § Participate in neither NAVHDA or NSTRA Robert Uhrich will be mailing out the ballots. |
September Fun RunThe
September Fun Run will be held September 1 at Snow Farms in Moscow,
Idaho, courtesy of Jack Flack.
Mark George has volunteered to chair the event, which
historically has been very popular.
We are preregistering this one, so please get your fees in the mail to
Mark George as soon as possible.
Brace fees will be $15 if you preregister. If you wait until the day of the Fun Run to pay, you will get
whatever braces are left over, if there are any. In past years there have been more braces to run than there was
daylight to run them in. Starting
time is 8:00 AM. Flight
conditioned bobwhite quail will be used at this event, provided by club
member Scott Sorenson. Snow
Farms is
located on Snow Road, which intersects Highway 95 approximately 4 miles south
of Moscow, Idaho. Signs will begin at
the junction of SR 95 and the Snow Rd.

http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/ NSTRA TrialWe
(the Snake River Gun Dog and Sportsman’s Association) have a spring trial
date for NSTRA on March 23rd, 2002. We are waiting on a
response form the Corps of Engineers for Hells Gate park as a trial site, but
it is not expected to be a problem. Robert Uhrich is the
chairman for the trial. NSTRA trials
usually fill up pretty quickly, and NSTRA rules say you cannot register for
an event more than 60 days prior to the event. 60 days prior to March 23rd, 2002 is Jan 22nd,
2002, so if you are interested mark that date on your calendar and give
Robert a call that morning. |
