DID YOU KNOW?

Our club member Alfred Daigneau ( the French say Dan-yoh) from Alaska.  It seems that Mr. Daigneau has a young wirehair so homely that he searched all the way from Alaska to Mt. Bachelor, Oregon looking for someone, anyone, anywhere, willing to call this homely pup “handsome.” As this story was told to me, this is something that owners of good-looking shorthairs find hard to believe…  Anyway, Al’s “Cracker,” who was the blue ribbon winner at our February Fun Trial (2001) at eleven months of age, finished his AKC show championship in Oregon this spring (2002).  CH Cascade Crackshot is Alaska’s first German Wirehair Pointer Bench Champion – Congratulations, Al!

July Family Day and Potluck

Well, all I can say is, if you weren’t there, you missed out AND WE MISSED YOU!

It was a lovely day and evening with fun people and FABULOUS food – as usual.  I’m beginning to believe that this is the Snake River Sportsman, GOURMET, and Dog Association!

Vice President Mark George called the membership meeting to order.  The first order of business was discussion about the need for a special election by the membership for the office of club President.  A motion was made, seconded, discussed, and approved unanimously to hold a special election at our August event.  VP Mark George is willing to serve as a “co-President” to assist any incoming newly elected officer with required duties.  Duties include program development and planning, conducting membership and executive meetings, and generally responding to club business.  This is a shortened term until the election in Mar/Apr 2003.

All voting members present, along with prospective club members, agreed to reach out and contact individuals who may have an interest in assisting with the running of the club.  No specific experience is necessary (remember Mark George will train you!).

Enclosed in this newsletter is a nomination form and ballot if you are unable to attend the August event.  Please verify with anyone you nominate that the individual in willing to serve if elected!  Ballots must be received by:  Nance Ceccarelli, Secretary, 1031 Showalter Road, Moscow ID 83843 No later than August 15, 2002.

Other business included discussion of plans for the September Fun Trial and a possible Spring NSTRA trial.  Dick Chapman volunteered to do some legwork regarding the latter event, however, the trial needs a chair!  Any takers?  All members present voted to support and be available to assist in planning and conducting this event if we are able to secure a date and location.

Treasurer’s Report

Doc Kramer and his wife are safely back from the month in Hell’s Canyon – what a hot month it was, too!  Doc reports that our balance as of June 28, 2002 = $2891, with insurance costs and training session costs outstanding (amount?).

An issue for discussion at the next business meeting will be considering another carrier for insurance coverage.  For the next year, the total annual cost  is $557 ($259 general liability + $298 for the trailer).  At this rate, 55% of our annual membership dues is being spent on insurance.
