TWENTY-FIVE (25!) club members and friends came out for a
fabulous day of Shooting, bull-shooting, and baloney at Outback Sporting Clays
in Palouse, WA earlier this month. What
a great day. If you weren’t there, you
missed a great deal of fun and fabulous food.
Everyone hit something at least once; and all of us ( including yours
truly) broke a target or two. The day
was cool enough to get folks thinking about fall & hunting and the course was an easy comfortable walk…just
right to start getting in shape. Our
hosts, Darlene and Jerry Schwartzman, have set up a challenging, yet achievable
course of clays. Super Shooter Barry
Bregert and his lavender Fiocchi shells set a course record. Mary McKinney and I enjoyed a quiet moment
with a fawn as s/he left the wheat field in search of a quieter place to
nap. Meanwhile, John “Doc” Kramer
simply curled up in his car, under a tree at the Hershaws for his siesta. And, speaking of the Hershaws, “Cajun” Cam’s
gumbo was truly a tasty treat! Thank you
for hosting the potluck! Many of the
crowd enjoyed the second sampling of Bart the Brewmaster’s Beer.
DID YOU KNOW?
Hunting
season is JUST around the corner! Are you ready? Do you have your access
“permissions” lined up? Have you walked
around in those brand new boots yet?
Did you replace the missing or torn button on that favorite jacket
yet? Where is that hat you put away
last winter? Many early and excited
hunting days result in injuries that impact the rest of the year. So, what about your physical
condition? Just like a top notch
athlete, hunting requires that your muscles, skeleton, and brain are in shape
and ready to react at a moment’s notice.
We spend a great deal of time and effort getting our dogs ready and
forget to take care of OUR bodies.
Stretch, Walk, Twist, Lunge, Reach, Lift, Pull, Push – get moving! Be smart, be safe, and have a great season!
